English Books at CERN is a CERN club whose purpose is to make available to its members contemporary books in the English language.

Books can be borrowed at any time. Members are allowed to borrow as many books as they like. We only ask that the other members’ rights to access to the books are respected by taking only two new books at a time and returning them within a month.

Twice a year (usually around May and November) we place an order for new books. We solicit our members for requests and recommendations and the committee meet to agree the selection. When the new books arrive, we bring them to a table outside R1 one lunchtime. The books then take their place on the New Arrivals shelf in the book room.

Please note, English Books at CERN does NOT accept donations of books. Here is a list of places, groups and organizations that handle book donations:
